Exotic goods

On friday, before I got pissed out of my mind, I bought the first item I've ever bought that was manufactured in Benin. I think it's funny when you find things like that: five years ago or so I bought some henna from a small immigrant's shop and it was from Sudan. I've never bought anything made there before either.
So what did I buy? A lot of cheap, plastic, fake hair in a colour that looks more like mine than the fake hair I had before. In the shop it looked very much like my hair colour, but when I came home I saw that it had a cold, red tinge to it. But it's pretty close and it doesn't matter much since I'm just going to use it to fill up under my own hair, like I did when I took the pictures of my 18th century outfit.

And, changing the subject, yesterday evening I started on a hand sewn, lightly boned 16th century kirtle in a rather coarse blue wool tabby ([livejournal.com profile] litensessa knows the fabric, since she has a dress from it). Even though the bodice is half finished it won't be finished before the end of [livejournal.com profile] nacofimo tomorrow, because hand sewing takes time and since I'm alone with Maja all day I won't have that much time to sew.
