I was very successful costume-wise today. Not only did I manage to put on my empire corset all by myself, I also made a basic bodice pattern for empire dresses. That was of course why I put on the corset. Rickard works between 7 and 18.40 every other saturday (and 9 and 18.40 on the sunday) so I have to do things like that myself. I laced it as wide as I could, my lace is a little short and wriggled into it. Then I laced it as it should be. It's a good thing that breasts are so compressible.

But now I've gotten diverted by [livejournal.com profile] isiswardrobe who told me about a late 18th century festival at a local manor. My old 18th century project may or may not be salvageable, I'm not going to find out now. I will never try to make a robe à la francaise again without a dress dummy. But I do have a skirt made in a late 18th century fashion (made just like the the skirt for my folk costume) from a cotton in a very typical 18th century chintz pattern. If my corset fits me I could make a jacket for it and a little lace cap. I tis not likely that the corset will fit me though, or rather I hope it won't, since it was too big last summer.
I think I should ban this thought from my head.
