Barbie's Saxon Court dress

My friend Jovi, a lady of the Rose (former queen in the SCA, in this case of Drachenwald), got the idea that the Ladies of the Rose should contribute more to the Double Wars event and decided to throw a party with rose theme.
That got me inspired and insane enough to make a 16th century Saxon Court gown which would have suited Barbie. In pink (synthetic) velvet and rayon brocade, both from my stash (the velvet was a gift many years ago).

I had about a week to make it, and I was really short on fabric, so it is a little bit shorter than I wanted. But at least it has no visible machine seams.

I don't see it as pink either, just a lovely red on my monitor. One week? How do you manage this?
