Dividing the roots

Yesterday five large banana boxes with organic food (and some loose stuff, like eggs) arrived at our place. Rickard does most of our shopping, since he works in a supermarket, so most of the stuff wasn't for us, but for [livejournal.com profile] herzeloyde, my sister Lena and her friend Mary. The most of it, including 10 kilos of flour, belonged to my sister; she's baking a lot. I had only ordered parsnips, shampoo, kidney beans, couscous, and green lentils. Since we do our order as one person, to get the most rebate, we have to divide those vegetables which more than one person had ordered. Most popular was apparently parsnip, since I and my sister had ordered one kilo each and [livejournal.com profile] herzeloyde two. To make the dividing more interesting the parsnips were mixed with parsley root, which looks similar, but which only two people had ordered. You can here see how [livejournal.com profile] herzeloyde with a combination of sight and smell distinguishes between the different tubers.
