I'm sorry to sound really boring, but don't you want one that you can carry like a backpack?

Nope, backpacks don't go together with ladies' wool coats. The way the sleeves are set in makes the fabric all bunched up under your arms, towards your back, and that's pretty uncomfortable when the fabric is thick wool. It doesn't look good either. I use my back pack when I'm traveling, but not otherwise. A back pack also goes rather badly with shaped jackets and skirts, which I wear a lot.
