Wow! Just wow!

I found this link to John Galliano's fall fashion show through Hanna Fridén's blog (swedish). And all I can say is WOW! The shoes, the tights, the dresses, the coats, the fabrics, the colours, the details! I'm in love!

Having just watched the slideshow... I'm singularly unconvinces - one or two were OK, but the rest just looked freakishly overdone, to me.

Perhaps it's the obvious 1920's/1930's influence some of them have (never been a favourite period of mine) or perhaps its that several of them look like an explosion in a ruffle factory or an explosion in an underwear factory.

Probably both. I liked the 20s-30s influence. And the ruffles. I won't wear that many ruffles though.

Freakishly overdone. Yes. I think the corpse bride makeup didn't help me overlook that all the models are skeletons. It is just unappealing to me - do men really think they are sexy looking like that?

But, a fashion show is not so much about clothes, it's just an art exhibition running around on skinny legs. At least that's what I have to tell myself not to be horribly annoyed by the whole concept.

I did like some of the fall-like colours, muddy reds and whatnot.

Erm.. sorry, Eva, for raining on your parade. So not my intention. It's great that you like the clothes there!

No problem. I have big problems with the stick-skinny models too. And funnily enough most of the clothes would look so much better on normally shaped women.

Definitely would. I think I was unduly upset by watching Dawn French talking about larger women via YouTube yesterday.

It's fun that the inspiration is so obviously from the beginning of the 20th C, and I really like the warm, earthy colours, but I'm not sure about the mass of ruffles and layers -- I think it will make normally-shaped women like me look big and shapeless. I also would have preferred the skirts to be a bit longer, but that's just me :)

Ooh, pretty! Thanks for sharing this. I really liked the completely clashing color combinations of tights/shoes. Some of the styles are a bit too extreme, but overall, I totally agree with you on the 'wow!'

The beige-ish coat with black buttons and skye blue tigths was just wonderful.

He is one of my favourites two, but Lacroix my dear, he is the master!

I'll have to check out his fall collection too then.

Hmm, I checked out his fall collection (http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/F2007RTW/review/CLACROIX) and I'm not impressed. Boring and too much black. Almost exclusively black. I remeber that he did som really stunning things back in the 80s.

But the spring couture show (http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/S2007CTR/review/CLACROIX) had some yummy stuff in it. Draped chiffon...mmm.

I love it too! Wonderful. I want most of those shoes. *sigh*
