Winter solstice
Dec. 22nd, 2004 09:55 amThe longest night is over and the sun has returned. The dark goddess has given birth to the sun child and while doing so turning into the bright goddess, the spring maiden.
I've lit my golden ball-shaped candle on the wall over my little landscape with threes, animals, a pregnant goddess and a large (compared to the rest of the figures) black cauldron, the cauldron of death and rebirth. We've eaten saffron coloured buns shaped like sun crosses for breakfast and even though the first real winter storm is raging outside and no sun can be seen I know that the sun will grow stronger and stronger and spring will return.
A happy solstice to all of you.
