Blue things
Mar. 7th, 2013 09:10 amOn Tuesday, after my lecturing marathon I was so wound up and the sun was shining so beautifully that I decided to walk down town and visit the nearest yarn store. After that (I bought blue and white sock yarn) I went further down the Avenue, which is the main street in Gothenburg and went into a store called TGR, which is filled with various knick-knacks. And there I found these lovely bangles in the most beautiful of colour combinations (it's the colours of the football team that I support, IFK Göteborg). Not that I generally wear bangles when going to games, but I could always start.

I've also knitted a pair of mittens. After making lots of tams I felt that I had to make something else and ended up with these. The pattern is called "Magic Mirror" and you can get it for free here.

This Saturday we welcomed a new coven member. The first one without ovaries ;) There should have been three, but they were busy this weekend so it will probably have to wait until September, since in the summer they have their own wedding and another coven member is also getting married so that we have very few free weekends.
It was touching as always and we also had a good party. I left at 1 a.m. because unlike the others I wasn't sleeping at the covenstead but at my mum's place, since she was taking care of Maja while Rickard was working and I was busy with wicca stuff.
Sunday morning I woke way too early, before both my mum and Maja, so I was rather tired the whole day. Despite this we had nice day. My mum left for work at nine and then Maja and I played and read. Mostly outdoors, despite teh really chilly weather (10 C/50F and strong winds) until noon. Then I made lunch at around 12.30 my half sister picked us up and we went with her to see her mother and then go through some old junk of my father's. I now own a new (for me) rucksack, a couple of studio photos from my mum and dad's wedding and of me and my brother and two more old sewing machines. I didn't take those now though, since we were going home by train and they weigh a ton. There was some other stuff too, which we will have to borrow/rent a car to go and get later in the summer.
It was nice to meet my sister and my father's widow and I also loved seeing the place where they rent storage space, which is an old mental asylum.
Then we went hoem with the train and got home and it poured down the whole evening, which was a pity since IFK Göteborg were playing a cup game and the twins were there to see it and stood in the rain for two hours. I made them hot chocolate when they came home and now we'll have to wait and see if they catch colds.
Oh - and Maja lost her two front teeth last week.

I know that it's not rational, but I feel very sad today, because IFK lost yesterday's game and also the gold. It was every PR-man's dream: the last game of the season between the biggest team from each of the biggest towns, the biggest rivals - and the one that won would also win the whole league. And we lost.
If it had been any other team I would not have been this sad, it really is a miracle that it went so well this season, with two good players sold and five(!) with bad injuries, two of those being some of the best players that we have. But loosing to AIK, it is a bit hard to bear.

Pink again
Oct. 23rd, 2009 06:49 pmWell today it's time for the next airing of the pink outfit, since I'm going to the Gothenburg burlesque club Tip the Velvet tonight. I've been invited to a pre-party, but there is also the possibility to watch IFK play an away game on the computer. It's a very hard choice since the season is drawing to an end with IFK in second place, one point down, and only three matches left to play, including this one.
At half-time the other team led with 2 goals. Then, the first 15 minutes of the second half we made three goals. Which made the final score 3-2 to us!!! And the team we met is the team that has been the by far best this season (our season goes from April to the beginning of November).
I am so happy!!!

A question for
edmndclotworthy
Apr. 30th, 2008 10:39 pmand any other brits who might now: I've been watching the Champion League semifinal (there's a short break before the extra time starts) and listening to the songs, trying to make out the words. And it got me thinking about this: In Sweden we have a (very rarely used these days) "song" that goes: "After the game you're going to die!" (directed at the other team's supporters)
Given the history of british football I assume there must be at least one like it in Britain too; but how does it go? And is it the same for all teams? (like "sing when you're winning..etc.)

And here it is
Mar. 31st, 2008 03:35 pmNot only did I get a nice tank top; Rickard also told me, when he came home, that one of the TV channels we have is going to show the game. And the tummy is much calmer. This may turn out to be a good day anyway, even if I haven't worked as much as I planned to.

I'm going out
Mar. 31st, 2008 01:58 pmMy stomach seem to have stabilized a little so I'm braving a walk down to the supporter shop where I will get some new IFK Göteborg piece of clothing. Because yesterday the swedish football season started and today we have our first game. It's an away game quite far away so we're not going, but one can always dress up when listening to the radio.
SM-GULD!!!!!!
Oct. 28th, 2007 06:51 pmSM-GULD, SM-GULD, SM-GULD!!!!

In other words: We won the league!!!!!!
And now, after four hours in pouring rain, including watching my friend Anders taking a bath in the biggest fountain on the main street I am home and have also taken a hot bath. Hubby is making Pytt i panna, which is the food eaten by IFK whenever they win the league, and soon I will open up a bottle of real Champagne, from the region of Champagne, which I got as a present from the opponent at my viva voce. I will also go to the shop to get some beer.
ETA: 1. Of course I took part in the pitch invasion.
2. We didn't open the champagne after all, but I had three beers. Now we're off to bed, Rickard
starts work at seven tomorrow.

Today is the day
Oct. 28th, 2007 11:06 amToday is the last game for the season. If we win by one goal, and Djurgården doesn't make more than 4-0 on their opponents we win the league. It's eleven years since last time. My team is meeting one of the teams at the bottom of the league, but that doesn't mean that it's easy: nerves can do much damage and the teams in the bottom of the league can have good games as well as the leaders can play really badly. Like we did on Monday; but we did win. Djurgården also meets one of the bottom teams, and a team that in reality functions as their "farmer's team"; where they send not-so-good players and pick up the best. I hope that Brommapojkarna, as they're called, will do their best, but I don't count on it. So it would be very good if we scored at least two goals.
I haven't been really nervous until today, because in all likelihood we should win; but now all the "ifs" and "buts" are showing up in my mind.
Well, soon we will know, the game starts at 3 pm.

A great relief
Oct. 22nd, 2007 09:52 pmI didn't write about it before, for fear of jinxing it, but today my team, IFK, played an extremely important away game. If they had lost they would have lost the gold. As it is now, they won, and they are still in the lead before the last round on Sunday, when they play the final game, a home game against one of the teams that is at the very bottom of the league. They played very badly, but they won! We have been in the lead now for weeks, but it's only with goal difference, we're on the same points as the Stockholm team Djurgården. They won their game today too, but will have to make five goals on Sunday to beat us if we score one. And we will make more than one!Or at least we ought to, but I know I can't relax until Sunday. And I'm not sure "relaxed" will be the best word describing my feelings if, no, when we win! :)
Pink is the new white
Oct. 1st, 2007 09:55 pmOur team, who's colours are blue and white tonight played in pink and blue, to raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer.
And we/they won! 3-0 against one of the better teams; one of them being a rather nice home goal by one of their defenders ;)
It pays to be good, but then the nick name for our team is "The angels"

A great surprise
Sep. 20th, 2007 11:35 amYesterday I got an e-mail from
fluffy_badger asking if Rickard and I wanted tickets to the football derby next week? If???
That was really nice of her, we will be going with her and her fiancé and it will be great fun. If we win of course.

Watching DVDs of the two UEFA cup finals from 1982, the year of IFK's first UEFA cup victory, together with husband and our friend Mof; drinking up Sara's beer that she forgot when she went home to Stockholm, improved things a lot. I also felled almost all seams on the Uvdal gown.
Now I'm relaxed and tired and need to go to bed.
