A viva party
Oct. 21st, 2012 09:54 amA colleague of mine defended her PhD dissertation on Friday, about dysentery in Sweden. I hadn't intended to go to the viva party, but since one of our PhD-students couldn't coem due to illness and I surprisingly felt well enough to go to a party I ended up going anyway. This is what I wore.

Note the scruffy shoes, which are one of three pair shoes that I can wear now due to my arthritis flare. At our faculty the dress code isn't very strict for viva parties, which is good; I wouldn't have gotten away with a cotton dress and scruffy shoes at the faculty of medicine for example.
It wasa nice party. I danced some, drank a couple of beers and talked to both old friends and some of our really nice new PhD students. And I sensibly went home at half past eleven.
