The material used is mainly balsa wood, but when I needed sonething softer, or bendable, and when I ran out of balsa wood, I used strong paper or cardboard. The hinges for the doors are small pieces of steel wire pushed into the wood. It is much smarter to do this when you're building the cupboard, not after, as I did.

It is made in 1:12 scale based on my desk that used to belong to my grandfather:





This desk is rather typical for Swedish furniture from the 1930s and 1940s.

Woah, working doors on hand-made doll furniture. Cool! Sounds like a pain to make. I also really how it's a scale replica of your granddad's.
