I have definitely got a cold. I've had that stinging feeling in my throat and nose for at least a week and was wondering why it never turned into a real cold. Well, today it did, so I stayed home from the water aerobics and went ot my job instead. Now I'm just trying to get enough energy to start writing on the sector on male clothing in the 15th century. Yesterday I read a really amazingly detailed description of a garment in those legal notes I've been working on. So I wonder, does anybody else have references to pleats being held by stay tapes on the inside of the garment as early as 1458?

No actual references... it's been bandied about as sort of "common knowledge" that it was done, by 15th century costumers over here without and references having been mentioned for absolute years.

Probably there are references then, I just wish I knew where.

The only reference that springs immediately to mind is a picture showing tapes holding pleats in place on the inside of a garment that has been left open, but that's by Lotto so is later and Italian.
