Children's birthday party
Aug. 21st, 2004 06:39 pmVendela and Valeria's birthday party is now getting close to being over. It was an rather easy and relaxed experience sin ce they always have their party together with their best friend who's birthday is one day after them, which means that there are lots of grown-ups to help with it. We also make it very simple. They invite a few friends and eat hot dogs and ice-cream and then they get small bags of candy. This year I had made bags of shiny fabric remnants (this morning actually) and they had to look for them in the flat. It was very well received, especially that they could keep the bags. One of their guests have left now but the rest remain so there are now 5 girls playing charades in their room. And it's very quiet actually. I wonder if it's possible to have parties like this when you have boys. They always seem to make much more noise.
Tomorrow I will be going to a wedding reception (the actual ceremony was today). Oddly enough the guests are supposed to bring food, which means that I will have to cook either tonight after the children have left or tomorrow morning. Even if the birthday party was rather quiet I'm tired and my knees hurt and I don't want to do any more work tonight. But I will. I'm gong to make Pies of Paris from Take a thousand eggs or more by Cindy Renfrew. It was many years ago that I copied that recipe so I have no idea what her original source is. It's good anyway, a pie with minced meat cooked in wine and broth mixed with egg yolks, spices and currants.
