Feb. 7th, 2005 05:06 pmI've got a cold!! I don't have time for that! I have a chapter to finish. I got useful feedback, which combined with my revelation last wednesday, about how I needed to change the chapter, will make it a very good chapter. As long as I get well enough to write it.
Before I realized I was too ill to work I went downtown to buy more buttonhole silk. I have sewn four of the boning channels in the back, but I'm too tired to continue. I tried it on this morning, since most of the lacing holes were done and discovered that the shoulder straps were too tight and hurt my shoulders (they are sewn there and not adjustable) and that it compressed my bust in an uncomfortable way. It was also too high in front for most of my dresses. So I cut off an inch at the top and also cut off the shoulder straps in front. I will make them adjustable by making lacing holes in them, like the effigy corset. It's a period solution even though the corset isn't a "perfect" copy of Pfalzgräfin Dorothea Sabina's corset anymore. If I get these things fixed it may be a very nice (and pretty) corset, I think. I tried on the dress that became too small when I attached the skirt and wearing this corset I fit into it, but it wouldn't hurt if I lost some weight. I also tried my green wool dress, which was impossible to close over the bust last time I tried and now it worked. It's several inches too big at the waist though, so I'm still contemplating selling it.
