The tartan dress
Dec. 6th, 2007 08:07 amMaja had a temperature yesterday, so I had to stay home. Not that I complain, working in the shop is hard for my body and now I also had time to sew. The bodice of my tartan 1950s dress is finished, except for the cuffs on the sleeves (and it involved a type of collar treatment I had never done before, such things scare me). Now I "only" have to pleat the skirt to the bodice with box pleats. Easy to do in theory, but not when you're working with tartan fabric and want the checks to match. I think I will have to attach the skirt by hand too, since machine sewing things gives much less control and this needs to be perfect.
Well, not actually needs to, since I'm going to wear a belt, but I want it to match.
