This is the dress I made from the 1,5 metre of white fabric with blue polka dots I bought at Shepherd's Bush market in April.

It was only 1,3 m wide so I needed to use some of the blue fabric for the waist piece and the sleeves aren't really much of a sleeve.
But I like it a lot.

I've just made a basic pattern for 16th century stays for Valeria. I think I will take apart my first stays for the boning - if I can manage with narrow german boning so can she. But I haven't decided if I'm going to make them with tabs or not. I want tabs, but then I have plenty of body fat to move around which Valeria hasn't. My first stays didn't have tabs and still were very comfortable, but since I've worked with the effigy pattern since then I of course have tabs now. But I don't really know if you need them, what they're good for when you make the stays for a slender person.

Any opinions?

No tabs

It turns out she didn't want tabs. This is looking like a one-day project - her upper body is much shorter than mine, so it shouldn't be more than 20 hand sewn eyelets.
