I'm sitting at my desk, doing the last preparations before my lecture on medieval Africa and China, which starts in 15 minutes. And Billy Idol sings "Rebel Yell" and it really is the kind of song that you're drawn into, where everything else disappears.

Having been to the book fair and found a really nice booth with books about popular music I am concerned by the fact that we live in a world where there are more than one book about George Michael, but none about The Jesus and Mary Chain.
How can this be??

This is what I bought at the book fair:

Ska'd for life - a personal journey with the Specials by Horace Panter. I've only read a few chapters and while he may not be the world's best writer (he's a bass player, not a professional writer) it really is interesting and a good read. Funny too.

Two volumes of accounts and supervision of provisions for a swedish fortress in 1487-1492
Two volumes of collected very old comics with "the Legion of Super Heroes", who were my favourites as a child and young teen, before I grew up enough to really like Marvel's more troubled superheroes. I still adored the Legion of Superheroes though.
