frualeydis: (18th century)
I forgot that thanks to the horizontal boning on top of the other boning and the many, narrow tabs there is no such thing as "quick and easy" 18th century stays. I have now done half of the lacing holes.
frualeydis: (18th century)
I tried them on after finishing all the eyelets. They fit well, despite the fact that I never thought they would. They could have been wider at the bust, as it is I look more like a cylinder than a cone, but that's something I have to live with thanks to my ribcage being so wide at the lower ribs. The shape is better for the first half and the middle of the 18th century than for the last quarter, but that's okay, since I'm going for 1730s-1750s this time. The curve at the top in front is also a little narrow, but that will be fixed tomorrow, now I need to go to bed.
