The Betty Grable blouse is finished
Aug. 1st, 2009 05:27 pmThe blouse for my Betty Grable outfit is finished. I chose to make a peasant blouse, though another possible construction was an "ordinary" blouse with just a gathered front. A peasant blouse was easier, however, and there are lots of both pictures and patterns of peasant blouses from the 1940s. The neckline is gathered and then I hand sewed a yellow ribbon on top of the gathering stitches, since that appeared to be the way it was done in the movie.
I've yet to find a suitable fabric for the suit and make a pattern for the jacket (the skirt should be very easy), so I'm wearing an old skirt for the photo.
