The new 16th century jacket
Oct. 7th, 2010 09:10 pmYesterday I tried the toile and then cut out the pieces for the red wool jacket. Tonight I have sewed most of the body - what remains is one shoulder seam and to cut and sew the sleeves. And of course hooks and eyes.

I'm sewing it by hand and have chose a method were you sew fashion fabric and lining at the same time and then split the seam allowances and whip stitch them down. There are so many historical ways of sewing lining in garments and I like to use different methods just for variety.
