While out looking for green net for my hat project I accidentally went to the remote, hidden corner where they keep really old fabric in the high class fabric store here in town. And found this:

It's a small check in dark blue and dark green, 40" wide, in all probability (we did a burn test) rayon or possibly acetate, though that's usually shinier, and cost 6$ per meter. I bought 5,5 metres; I wanted six, but the fabric was divided into smaller pieces and since I still don't know what to make of it it really doesn't matter. It's thin, densely woven and with a slight stiffness, though I don't know how stiff it will be after I've washed it.
