Too much happening in my life
Sep. 19th, 2018 03:08 pmMy life has been very busy, though mostly fun and busy. The semester started on September 3rd and since I teach a lot of early history the beginning of term is always packed for me. Adding to that I have also had house guests on several occasions, and lots of social events. Last week my dear friend Caroline stayed at my place for a couple of days since she was going to two lectures here in Gothenburg. We had a great time, including a new moon ritual.
Saturday we went first to a shopping centre where I bought linen fabric and cotton wadding for my upcoming project of making a quilted shift. I also bought some yarn and some cotton muslin. Then we went to my sister's place to eat barbecue and sort out too small children's clothes. Since she has inherited lots of stuff from me and my kids we go through them together when her kids have outgrown them, to see what to save for eventual grand kids and what to pass on to people outside of the family. In this case we brought three huge boxes to my friend Martin, who has a 2-year-old daughter.
Sunday morning was spent baking., preparing for a small get together for my friend Gaby's birthday. Originally this should have been a regency tea, but the birthday girl hadn't finished her clothes, so we just had regular tea with cakes and crafting. Still I wanted to make something period, so I made hot cross buns, from a 1825 recipe. They were really yummy, I will definitely make them again.
We had a good time and I knitted on a new wool shawl, from the yarn that I got.

kareina arrived at around 0.40 on Monday morning (technically). She stayed until Tuesday morning, but due to all that work we didn't get the time to hangout much. What we got was nice and I feel (even) more inspired about the SCA.
Tonight I teach the transition from the viking age to the early Nordic kingdoms and I haven't held that lecture before so now I really have to continue working on it.
