Sewing meeting and socks update

I was rather grumpy during the meeting, probably because I'm too tired, but I hope those few who showed up didn't take offense.I bound 3/4 of the corset with satin bias tape. Åsa tried a new naalbinding technique, B-M did some tablet-weaving, armillary sewed on his braies and Anna knitted.

My sister and her fiance came a little earlier and brought my birthday presents from them, my mum and my step-father, so now I have these:

vertical striped stay-ups

They are nice, but a little tight around the thigh. One also has to be careful not to snag them. But the effect is really good, they make your legs look much slimmer.

Wool M40s
They are very long before washing, but are supposed to shrink up to five inches from washing. I may do that tonight even. Also a little tight at the top, but my sister who has worn hers for a couple of days say that they stretch and get wider.

These in seafoam and lilac and pink and naturals.
They are a little tight, but not uncomfortably so at the top and have a little too big feet and wide ankles. Even if it is the smaller footed version. We'll have to see how it works after they have been washed. They don't stay up all by themselves, but it's enough just to add sock garters if you're not going to walk much. If you're going for a walk you will probably need a garter belt (with metal clips which are big enough to take thicker socks). They're very nice and warm and I already love them.

I'm curious to hear how the M40s stretch out. I want a couple of pairs, and I'm a little...generous through the thighs.

My thighs are c. 22 inches and I wouldn't want to try and stretch them more as they are now, but I'll make another report after a week when I see what has happened.

Those look really nice, especially the vertical stripes and the woollen ones.
