I miss haugtussa

I miss haugtussa. She moved back to Norway and we almost never see each other anymore. She calls sometimes, but I have a hard time having relaxed conversations over phone since she doesn't have an ordinary phone but a cell phone and that costs so much. I keep worrying about her phone bill all the time while talking. I know most people don't care and I know it's not as expensive as it used to be, but I don't have a cell phone and I haven't gotten used to it. So I don't like having long conversations while the other person has a cell phone, that's just it.
When she lived here she used to come over several times a week, just to drink tea and sew and chat and I miss that. I don't have much energy for it now, with the dissertation almost finished, but at least once a week would have been very nice. It was very much like it is with my friend Anna: I didn't have to make that much of an effort, if I was tired or distracted and didn't talk much we could just sit an be together, talk a little once in a while and look at period pictures. It was nice to have someone to discuss theories and research on medieval clothing with and someone one could ask about music, since she know so much more than me in that field. I also need her enthusiasm to get my own interest for making early 14th century clothes going again.
She sent me an e-mail yesterday, I will try to answer it today.
Now I should get back to reading through my introductory chapter.

I'm like that on mobile phones too. Also, I have to get used to talking to someone on the phone, even if it's someone I know well and can talk to for hours face-to-face. Yes, our phone bills are very small...

I know what you mean- my two best friends that I used to see like this, well, one lives in Gothenburg, and tough the other still lives in Stockholm, she lives in south when I lives north of the city. And she has two sons under the age of four. So it's almopst as hard as arrange a meeting as it is with Marie in Gothenburg. I miss them.

I have a cell phone, but I have no idea what my number is, as I hardly ever use it. It's good for emergencies, and travles, but I would go mad to walk around with a bleeping phone all day. My step-daughter says I'm very peculiar. :-D

Then I and my husband are peculiar too. I have my dad's old cell phone and the only time we bring it is when we go to Visby medieval week and then it's never on of course, unless we make a call. People ask me for my cell phone number, but a) I don't know it and b)If it's never on, what's the point?

me too find skype very good!

although only if she can get to talk through a computer too, since it is not very cheap to call up a norweigan cellphone from sweden (2kr/min). as the boy is working in telemark with only a cellphone and no computer i've checked all possible options and fares...
also checked the airfare from sthlm to oslo next weekend, and realised a return would cost me almost 2000:-!!! way too expensive.
did however get a ticket third weekend in feb for 650, yay! but it is 3,5 so very long and lonely weeks until then... *big longing sigh*

Scince I moved back to Norway, and to Kristiansand where I don't have any costume buddies, I haven't sewn anything, and I hardly ever get to disgusse early 14th cent. fashion with anyone (apart from when I am in oslo and meet KH people).
I use skype, so if you decide to start using it, let me know!
