Maja learns 5-10 new words every day now. She was a slow starter but now she's really gotten the hang of this speech thing. You only need to say a word once and she gets it, both the sound and the meaning (she will be 2 years the 12th of May). She also makes whole sentences, such as "jag vill ha tutte"="I want titty" ;)
And my husband made really yummy pancakes while I took a nap. I love him.

I love listening to small children as they learn to speak. There's some real insights about language acquisition and grammar going on there. Plus it's just neat to listen to them :)

My goodness. It's hard to believe that she's almost 2!

I love it when kids start to speak, both because it's interesting to see how they acquire language, and also because they can start communicating what's on their minds, how they think.

Isn't it fascinating? I can just sit for hours with Claire and watch her mind grow. Nothing escapes them at this age and they are little sponges that soak up everything they see and hear. Really amazing, and the more you talk to them the more they talk back! :-)

Now that she's off and running in language, are you going to teach her other languages? It's so much easier before their minds lock up!

Not yet. The twins didn't start on english (computer games)until they were six and they read Harry Potter and play World of Warcraft and speak it very well too.

So cool. It's always fascinating to see little people learn, but speech is the best! I probably only think that because I'm not very good at communicating with babies.

Isn't it fun when they start? My son was pretty late, around two, but then it went very fast. On the other hand he started to walk when he was 9 months old. That wasn't quite so fun.

*hugs*
