A productive day
Jun. 17th, 2006 09:54 pmAnyway, we had only planned to talk about it, but actually managed to take a pattern from a commercial corset she already had, change it a little and make a pretty successful test corset. Then we made the changes on a paper pattern and she cut new pieces, before we settled for watching football. I have now sent her home with more good test fabric (a sturdy olive green twill that I have a roll of), a pattern and my lacing strips. When I go to her on thursday to celebrate the summer solstice she will have made another, final, test version and we will work on fitting straps.
I have also remade the collar on Rickard's new ca 1300 tunic, based on this illumination from the Codex Manesse. It's the pink tunic to the left. His is not pink, however, but dark green. There's a dark green version in the book too. It's made from thin wool twill and lined with thin light grey wool tabby. Now all I need to do is make the buttonholes. I have dark green button hole silk at home. Unfortunately I don't have any good buttons. I would most of all like to have reproduction buttons, but I don't think Rickard is prepared to pay for that.
