My husband and I have checked around 150 pages. Who would have thought there would be small things that need to be changed on almost every page? I mean, this complete manuscript must have been read at least 10 times by now. And many more times before that, as separate chapters.

I always seem to find something new every time I have to proof read something long like that. Annoying!

At this stage, you'd have to ask yourself the question along the lines of: "can I live with those small errors?"
And of course, there's the traditional errata insert for all those last minute horrible errors that somehow seem to pop up after the final proofreading.

Almost there now! :-)

I can still make changes, that's why they sent it to me. I'm going to call the guy on Monday morning and ask if he wants me to do them in PageMaker and he then can transfer it into a pdf-file, because I'm not sure I can do that.

There are free pdf generators on the internet, e.g. CutePDF Writer. It's like a virtual printer, so when you want to pdf a document you just choose 'print' and then choose the CutePDF writer instead of you usual printer. It will not actually print, but create a pdf file of the document on your computer.

There is one in the programme too, but I don't know what properties [livejournal.com profile] armillary set for the manuscript.
Unless I can get hold of him to guide me through it I will bring the Pagemaker files to the printer. It will take him much less time to convert them than to correct things, which he would have done otherwise.
