My love for the Dubliners
Sep. 7th, 2006 11:31 amI'm listening to "Foggy Dew" with the Dubliners. I love, love love it. The voice of the singer, the music, the anger and pain that rings through the sad words, through the 30 years it was since it was recorded and the 90 years that lie between now and the Easter Rising.
And I love, love ,love the Dubliners. I prefer the old political songs, which were one reason they never made it big in the 70s, some of their songs were banned from the radio (excessive drinking may have something to do with that too), but I like the non-political folk music too. I'm not that enamoured with "Whiskey in the Jar" and "Wild Rover", they've been done to death, but for instance I adore "Farewell to Liverpool".
I think I like everything with them, to put it short.
