I need a new brain
Sep. 22nd, 2006 07:41 amSo, yesterday evening I realized that I had planned to make 3/4 length sleeves for the pink stays. Like on the pink 17th century stays in the V&A. Of course 18th century corsets weren't worn with sleeves, but this is for a mundane party so I thought it would be a neat idea. And somehow diminish the impression of nakedness on the onlookers. It's a hope at least.
Anyway, so yesterday I started on the sleeves. Sewing the actual sleeves isn't much work, but making the bars through which the ribbons which ties the sleeves to the stays are tread takes some work. I have now made 13 out of 20, from pink buttonhole silk. And my neck and wrists hurts even after 7 hours of sleep.
And I must admit that this wedding, though undoubtedly fun when I get there, now just feels like another obligation to be ticked off the list so I can continue preparing for the viva.
