This is a picture from a painted wood casket from the Upper Rhine area c. 1320. I have wanted to make that outfit since I first saw it, a year ago or so. I have a lovely green felted wool fabric and it doesn't appear to be lined. But I do need white wool or silk for the cotte.

It's beautiful. How does she keep that fold up? Does she sqeeze it beween her elbow nad her hip? If so, I admire her markmanship even more!

Yes, I think she is. But she is very close to the person she's shooting at. And since she's Lady Love I assume she has some supernatural powers.

Then you should check out folio 68 v och 81 v of the Taymouth hours (http://www.bl.uk/catalogues/illuminatedmanuscripts/record.asp?MSID=8148&CollID=58&NStart=13). The dress in 68 v has been on my to-do-list for years. I even made a (faux)fur lined version from cotton damask, but I want to make one from a better material, like wool.

Those are fabulous!!! I wish I had a reason to wear that period, but aside form the SCA, there isn't much going on in that era. Not that I need another period to costume......

In F.68 it looks like the bunny is laughing at her becasue she doesn't have an arrow in her bow. I hate it when the bunnies mock me.......

But she has a blunt, so that she can kill the rabbit without damaging the fur.

That's on the F 68v- on the front side the bunny mocks....then, on the back, the bunny dies!! (insert evil laughter here)

But I did notice the blunt and cheered for the babe with the bow.

You're right, she does!

Too bad Rickard isn't all that like her paramour.

That *is* charming! Looking at it, I'm tempted to make one for myself, but I have a pack of projects I need to finish first. :-)

This site (it's a company that sells materials for making dolls and clothes for very young children) is selling white wool challis for $13.99 USD. That might be something to consider for the underdress:

I was going to berate you for sharing that link (my doll-making cupboard is already overflowing with fabrics without you thrusting temptation of that sort in my path - thanks very much!)....

... but on closer inspection I see that they do not accept orders from outside the U.S., not even orders to ship to a U.S. address.

I have a freind who wears a green dress, now all we need to do is to get her to make her husband a grey gardecorps like that...

While I am relieved that I have not cast further temptation in your path, I'm sorry to hear that the company doesn't take overseas orders, since it means the link will be useless to [livejournal.com profile] frualeydis.

If she *really8 needed to buy form them, there's always the option of someone in the U.S. placing the order and then sending it on to Eva if they can arrange to sort oyut the payment situation between the two of them.

But ti'm trying not to think of that option (for the sake of my overflowing doll-making cupboard).

But I don't need it really. I'm hoping my usual wool supplir will get white wool again.

None of this occurred to me, because I don't make dolls myself; I wanted the wool challis for veils--a function it performs very well.
