Operating heavy machinery just outside people's bedroom windows shouldn't be allowed before 7 am. Especially since said people didn't fall asleep until 0.30 am.

Not good!! Quite inconsiderate. In Britain there is a law that car horns are not to be used except in absolute emergency between the hours of 7pm and 7am!!!! Not sure if that applies to building/heavy machinery as well though.

Sympathies on the disturbed sleep. I know how you feel this morning having gone to bed at 00:30 myself. I didn't get much sleep as for once I didn't wear the ear-plugs so that I could be able hear anything re my previous post!! That was a bad idea when Bilbo decided to go scrabbling around at 4 in the morning!

Thank goodness the only reason I'm going into work today is for a Christmas lunch. I think I will leave early after it. ::yawn::

Y3ah, I read about you night. God, I would be so scared! I don't like sleeping without Rickard in my safe (if occasionally noisy) apartment. It would be horrible to lie in my own house, hearing those noises!

Well, I couldn't hear the scrabbling from my bedroom - you know the layout of the house. What I wanted was to be able to hear anything untoward in case I had to get out of the house. That big door downstairs in the reading room/stairwell can be locked from the grotty staircase side which means that whole section of the house is cordoned off from the kitchen section. And the panelled bedroom upstairs (where [livejournal.com profile] sarahbellem was sleeping when you visited), now has a door in that curtained doorway which can also be bolted shut from my bedroom.

However, I can get down the back grotty staircase and into the red room and unlock the red room door to the garden if I HAD to get out. And regardless of bites, I'd take Bilbo with me! In made sure I had mobile and house phone AND house and car keys and my glasses so that if I had to Bilbo and I would be able to get into the car and drive to my parents place if it was absolutely necessary!!!!

I'm sure the sounds I heard were actually an animal who is rather cold out there. The building work is only at the footings and floor stage so the walls aren't up yet so nothing is "trapped". But that door to the old extension (remember that door?) is not the most secure of doors despite it having FOUR bolts on it now! After all, its NOT designed to be an external door.

I really HOPE that E gets home tonight. We have had domestic flights cancelled due to fog so I've told E that if that happens he gets the train home. I don't care how long - he gets home tonight. Especially after such a bad night last night!! I am SO tired!

Ah well, I'd better get ready for work now. I have half an hour to get dressed, get the noisy parrot up, defrost the car and start driving.

I'm pretty sure that's flat against local ordnances.

*slightly guilty, since he was up whacking at carpets at 9pm last night*

9 pm isn't a problem, and the law says "qiet after 10 pm".
Anyway, the law doesn't say anythign about disturbances from outside the house, since then they would have to adress the problem with car traffic. And we can't have that, can we? Everybody should have the right to drive as much as they like, all the time and without regard for others or the environment; personal freedom, you know.
