On friday I found Marianne Vedeler's not yet defended (but approved) doctoral dissertation about archaeological finds of clothing from the middle ages in Norway: Klaer og formspråk i norsk middelalder (Clothing and the language of form in medieval Norway) in my mail box at the university. I haven't had the time to look inside it yet, but I may bring it to the weekend's event to read on the plane and before sleeping. Right now I have to focus on other things.
The english summary is only five pages long, which I think is a pity, since there may be quite a lot of international interest in the subject. I also can't find an english abstract, which is required in swedish dissertations.

I've got one as well! Many many thanks for the tip! I so hope it's good (it got sent to Sweden, so I won't be able to read it until my parents bring it over).

I hope that she adds an English abstract before publication, since I'm interested in the subject too!

I'm afraid this is the publication. But an abstract of less than a page wouldn't help. There is, as I said, a five page summary, but I think that is too little. Mine was 20 pages, which of course isn't much for a 370 pages book, but at least enough to make it possible to present some of the problems, sources and results.

I agree, on all counts.

By the way, I purchased a copy of your "Tools for Textile Production from Birka and Hedeby" and found it to be extremely interesting and helpful. I was so glad to be able to obtain such a useful work on the subject in English.

That's not me, that's another Eva Andersson, who's an archaelogist. Both Eva and Andersson are extremely common names in Sweden. The only thing I've published in english is an article in NESAT VIII. I go by Eva I Andersson nowadays to avoid confusion.

My apologies. That's the second screw-up in the same thread!
