I've just been to the local irish pub with my friend Annaa. I had one pint of Bishop's finger and one pint of Guinness and I feel drunk. I have a complex relationship with drinking. I like beer, heck, I love beer, but I don't necessarily like to get drunk. Or, I do like to get drunk sometimes, It's fun while it's going on, but I don't like it when I can't continue drinking until I go to bed. I don't like feeling dizzy and light-headed after the actual drinking and socializing is over and I could do something better, like read or make a toile for my husband's doublet.
Most things are better sober, the only things that I really like to do when drunk (or close to it) is drinking, talking to others who are drinking and having sex (and if you look at it seriously sex is much better sober too), and none of them is going to happen now.
I want my head to be back to normal so that I can start sewing.

Drunk sex can be lots of fun, as long as you don't get get chocolate sauce and strawberries all over the trampoline.

Irish pub, St. Patrics Day... Lots of people in silly green hats?

I must admit I enjoy the feeling of being drunk, but as I have gotten older, it doesn't quite feel the same anymore. Drinking and sewing certainly do not go together! I really wish I could drink some wine today, [livejournal.com profile] solbirger bought lots of wine at Arlanda, but unfortunately I must wait until I'm sure I am not going to need anymore cough medicine. (This may explain why I have gotten so much sewing done lately!)

I'm the same. Actually, I don't really like alcohol anymore, either, only really good whisky and really good British or Irish beer/ale. And I don't much enjoy feeling intoxicated, either, so usually I just sip a little for the flavour.

Wouldn't it be great if there was an instant-sober-up pill?

I like a little glass of Wine now and then ~ that's about it.

I gave up drinking (not long after starting)during college when I went (with boyfriend) to a grain alcohol party and then puked all over myself. A few hangovers later and that was it! (Never liked the taste of American Beer).

I have a similar problem. I always want to drink more than I can take - I love beer, and wine, and some spirits, and I get drunk so fast it's not even funny. Or only to other (mean) people. Of course one can always do plain knitting.
