A friend has copied the very new book Viking Age Headcoverings from Dublin by Elizabeth Wincott Heckett. It deals with archaelogical finds from a couple of excavations from Dublin, from the norse era. Since I don't do viking, either professionally (my dissertation starts at 1215) or as a hobby I won't buy it myself, but I recommend anybody interested in viking dress, especially female, to borrow at a library or buy it. It is very interesting reading and might even make me start wearing my viking garb again.

A reasonably calm day bellywise. I've been to a fair/exhibition on home delivery, doulas, baby slings, infant massage, breast feeding etc together with a friend, her husband and her absolutely adorable six months old girl.

I've just had a nap and feel ready to start on a little caul/hairnet from a very synthetic gold fabric my friend Anna and I bought from an indian fabric store some weeks ago. It looks good but spreads glittering "fairy dust" everywhere.
