So, I had finished the dress I'm going to wear at my sister's wedding party. The zipper is in, the lining had been hand sewn in place. And I tried it on, and it's too loose in the bodice. The main reason is that since I've lost weight I had to change bra. I could have worn the one it was fitted over if it hadn't been for its tendency to show. So this really is better, it's just that I have to unpick the seam that holds the lining in place and some other seams. But even when it's just pinned it looks much better with a tighter fit. I just wanted to be finished.

Oh what a beautiful dress!!

But yes, it will look much, much better fitted tighter.

Man I wish I could sew!! I am going to learn, I really mean it.
I think I say that, at least to myself, every time you post...

Very very pretty! Be careful that you don't upstage the bride...

Btw, I have a gardecorps question for you, but I'll wait until you have more time.

That's such a cute dress, its worth all the effort to take in the bodice and make it fit right.

She's wearing 8 metres of cream silk satin with a train and a sprakly tiara so I think she'll outshine me. Not to mention that she's eleven years younger.

Thanks. I wanted something 50s-inspired and not too sweet and I think I succeeded in that.

Ohh, sparkly! Me likeee. It's going to be so pretty once you've altered the bodice.

You've really lost a bit of weight. Good for you.

It's not a lace edge, though it looks so. The dress is made from pink satin and a black, embroidered organza (both cheap and synthetic) and that is the edge of the organza.

That looks great! The sparkly shoes really work too.

Yeah, totally worth taking the bodice in. Well, and you're much more motivated than me to begin with.

I think you're right about the tighter fit, but the outfit already looks great on you!

Gorgeous!
But I must have misunderstood, I thought the wedding was last week? Or was that someone elses wedding?

Yes, the wedding was last week. But they decided to have the party after they had come home from their honeymoon, so to not be stressed on their wedding day. The wedding was just family and close friends and very short; just the ceremony and then lunch afterwards. The bride and groom then spent the night at a luxury hotel before flying off on their honeymoon. The party is much bigger and takes place on the 2nd of July.

I see! That sounds like a clever plan. I have heard that in Sweden wedding partys are often a bit more informal (people don't dress up much) than in Norway, but not so on this occation I gather.

I found a link to your costume page from sempstress.org. I would very much like to friend your LJ, if you don't mind.

Of course I won't mind. I don't write terribly interesting stuff these days though.
