*shudders* ICK!!! hair balls are gross. i'm currently housesitting and there are 2 long-haired cats here so i've seen my share of hair balls. luckily i wear slippers about 95% when i'm indoors. and i thank the stars i'm a dog person... and own a boston terrier.
It's also a way to completely fail at "sneaking quietly to the loo without turning on the lights so you don't wake people up who are sleeping in the living room". Ws mum did it.
