Drachenwald's crown tourney
Oct. 18th, 2007 08:31 amHere you can see the final in Drachenwald's autumn crown tourney. The winner was Duke Sven, who I don't know, but since he's together with Jovi, who's made of awesome, he must be a great guy too.
I don't know what it is with me, but even when I don't have the opportunity to see it in person, like in the Visby Tournament, I really like watching heavy fighting and tourneys. I guess it's the combination of sport and romance. If you were raised on the film "Ivanhoe" (it was shown on telly every New Year's Day in Sweden for at least fifteen years) I guess you can't avoid heart flutter when you watch tourneys. And it's not because I want to pick up fighters, I have a husband I'm happy with and most of them are too young anyway ;) I've had friend's fight for me in the Visby tournament; I probably make the perfect lady for this, since I really care and get extremely flattered and happy, and romantic, but more in the original 19th century way.
Back when I was only active in Nordrike and we didn't share camp with SCA as we do now I was the only one, except our few fighters, who had any interest in the Visby tournament, which I think made people think I was a little weird.

Date: 2007-10-18 07:00 pm (UTC)Crown tourney is always extra exciting. Asbjorn has fought two now, one he injured his elbow the week before, the other he made it to the final. They called me (it was in Tasmania, the cost of me going over was too high) on a mobile to let me know. Not knowing it was on speaker I uttered the immortal "you're shitting me!". Not very regal. Apparently the joke of the weekend... Still, gets Yolande off the hook for "I can't believe you won that!"
We're obviously going to enter again in May, as our local group is hosting Crown then. If we win, we'll not be going to Sweden.
