A little nervous
Jan. 24th, 2008 10:14 pmToday I start taking sulfa against my arthritis. I haven't taken any medication that works on the actual arthritis since I stopped taking Metothrexate in 2003 - I stopped because I was planning to have Maja (or at least a baby) and I never started again because of the horrible side-effects: I didn't want to have bad sinus infections with temperatures nine months a year.
The reason I haven't taken sulfa before is that I had an allergic reaction to it 35 years ago and it is very likely that I am still allergic to it; but my doctor wanted me to try it and I was nice and complied. The allergy is the reason I wasn't given it immediately when I was diagnosed; it is otherwise the common "starter-medication" here in Sweden.
Well, I will soon know if I really am allergic to it, because I will get a horrible rash if I am. She has also given me medication against allergy and cortisone if I should get a reaction. I hope not, because I don't want to go to work with red dots everywhere and a terrible itch.
