The train trip went marvelously. Maja was awake and happy most of the time. We arrived at Rickard's mum's place at 9 pm or shortly after that. She had made waffles, which wasn't necessary since we had already eaten, but was nice. After that Maja stopped being the miracle baby and cried violently for half an hour before I could calm her. We still were asleep around midnight and didn't get up until after seven so at least Rickard slept reasonably well. I had been up and nursing Maja during that time so I don't think I got my necessary six hours, but I didn't feel too bad. After breakfast we took Maja for a walk and visited a second hand shop which had half price on everything. I bought a couple of books but there wasn't any usable fabric.
Then we had lunch and started to get dressed. Putting on a folk costume is very much like putting on renaissance clothing, except for the corset, so it takes some time. On the other hand you don't need make-up, so it probably evens out in the end.
The wedding was really nice. The ceremony was beautiful and though not a proper handfasting, very wicca inspired. I spoke for the east and had written some lines about new beginnings and how important it is to see each other with fresh eyes and keep being in love. Other friends spoke for the other quarters and the God and the Goddess. Then, after the legal part was done they jumped the broom. It contained so many pagan elements and still I don't think their relatives and non-pagan friends thought of it as strange, just like a beautiful ceremony. The bride was very beautiful in white and gold, with ivy in her hair and hanging from her sleeves. Later, in the dusk she looked a lot like a fairy queen and almost glowed in the dark.
The party was also very nice. We were maybe 80 people there, so it was rather big. We had a three course dinner that took at least four hours, with lots of speeches and singing and then there was dancing and a bar where you could buy beer and drinks. The latter was nothing for us of course and by that time Maja was rather fed up with all the noise and all the people and was being difficult; crying and not wanting to take the breast. My breast on the other hand was very productive so I soaked my shift and bodice in milk. Unfortunately the red lacing cord wasn't totally colourfast so I now have red stains on my shift. I've treated it with stain remover and we'll see how it looks after I've washed it on tuesday. If it doesn't disappear I can always bleach the whole shift.
We were home around twelve and asleep by one. Nursing at five and up again at seven, so again I didn't get enough sleep. That was sunday and we went to see Rickard's dad who hadn't seen Maja before either. We were to take the train again at 13.52. However, it was delayed half an hour because in Nassjo, where the train started, there was a man siting on the track and refusing to get up, so the train couldn't leave until the police had removed him. This train trip Maja was eating almost all the time, which meant that I was rather stiff in my hips and back when it was time to get out of the seat and start moving again.
Later that evening my mum came over to watch the finals in the European Championships. What she really wanted to do however, was to sort old stuff together with me, to see what to keep and what to throw away. She's moving and and needs to get rid of some stuff. I swear, she has fabric scraps from when I was a toddler.
Hopefully asleep at midnight I had a fairly good night and now Maja is sleeping so I can write this long entry.

PS. Here you can see some pictures from the wedding, including one of Maja, hanging on her dad's shoulder.
