Round sleeves
Feb. 23rd, 2008 03:41 pmIt turns out the hard part is the sleeves. The dress has a pair of very nice tie-in round sleeves (bottom photo) that I would like to continue to use and the only example I've seen of that kind of sleeves and a low-necked bodice is the 1569 painting
myladyswardrobe used for her red wool dress - and it is front closed. Most gowns with this kind of sleeves actually have doublet bodices.
But if any of you have seen non front closing bodices with open, round sleeves I will reconsider. I think I want it to open in the back, but I also want the sleeves.
