Another make over
Mar. 1st, 2008 07:02 pmIn the spirit of making over my yellow and black 16th century gown so that I can wear it now I've decided to also take this one in so that it fits me. It's the same story: it fits in the bust but is too wide in the waist, it is also a little too long in the bodice. My first idea was to throw it away, or just use the skirt, it is well made, but the front-buttoned low necked bodice is AFAIK not period; it was inspired by a gown in Elizabeth, I had just started with elizabethan and didn't know better. I don't have enough fabric to make a new bodice, but I think I look so good in it and I really want to wear it again! And then I thought: this is the SCA, no-one will kill me if I wear it and as long as I tell people that it's wrong no harm will be done.

I'm not wearing the right smock of course, I just tried it on when I was wearing the corset to adjust the fit of the yellow bodice.
