frualeydis: (effigy stays)
[personal profile] frualeydis
Thank you all for your kind comments on my re-make. I don't know If you can realize how wonderful it was to have a day when you didn't have to do any work but could just be with your family and sew! All the other weekends this year I've either taken care of Maja alone when Rickard's been to work or prepared lectures. But since Maja was ill on friday I couldn't pick up tests to grade and I finished preparing my next lecture on friday night, which means that I can sew today too! I only need to decide what, the options are:

1. Continue with the pink 16th century gown. That means sewing skirt to bodice and sewing all the hooks and eyes. Since that's what I did yesterday (hooks and eyes) I don't feel so thrilled about that.

2. Make another pair of effigy-style stays, this time by machine and only half-boned. I don't want to wear out my hand sewn ones before I present my mistress' test, which it is a part of. Since the boning takes up space a half-boned one giving the same size would be more comfortable too.

3. Take in the yellowish green wool gown I wrote about yesterday.

Of course, there are many other options: like fixing the forepart/petticoat and starting on the two reconstructions of the gowns of St. Clare and St. Elisabeth of Thuringia that I'm going to talk about at the NESAT conference, or make some cute mundane dresses, but I don't feel like doing that now.
I think I will start on the stays.
