They're made from the same kind of satin they make ballet shoes from, so they're really not as shiny as on the photos, it's the flash.

I miss mine too, but with arthritis and not having danced since I was fourteen there wasn't much point in keeping them.

That's good. This one didn't take that much time really, since it's partly machine sewn. The only hand sewn parts in the lower binding, one side of the upper binding and the lacing holes.
