The event was lovely: cosy, good food and I got to sing a lot with other people who like to sing, like [livejournal.com profile] emoni and [livejournal.com profile] armillary, of course. I also got

This may seem late to some of you, since I've been doing medieval stuff so long, but most of it has been in another society; I'm not sure I've deserved it this time either. It made me very happy, especially for the little image of me that her Royal Highness, who made the scroll, had made .

To court and the feast I wore the

The dress got rather warm so after the banquet had ended and we had been singing for an hour or so I took it off and had an underwear party. Here you can see me partying with our lovely Queen.

Congratulations!

Your yellow velvet dress looks just lovely on you. I love the last picture, and the look on the fellow's face on the right makes me laugh. ;)

Yes, you deserve it. Just because you got a lot of experience in another group does not mean you don't deserve to be recognized in this on. In Caid and other Kingdoms an Award of Arms is not given for a specific skill but to people the Crown thinks "have considerably enriched Our Realm." And by your activity, fine costuming and teaching of same, you fit that category too.

dress-modifications turned out lovely!
however, i've always assumed you already had an AoA also in the SCA!?

Nope. I got involved in 1993, the twins were born in 1994, so I didn't do much in the SCA before the split.

And of course you deserve it. Your research and presence on the web means you assist countless SCAdians every day. Heck, I was mentioning to someone in our local group that I'd try to meet up with 'my friend Eva' in Gothenburg and he looked at me for a moment and went 'would that be Aleydis?'

World famous in New Zealand, at least!

That's great ;) World famour in New Zealand.

We've been talking loosely with some people about getting a tent for you for Visby. It is likely that you can borrow one from our group, but it is of course easier with a tent which is already on the island. [livejournal.com profile] armillary and I can contact the autocrats unless you want to do it yourself.
