1. I did not pay attention, Obscure Writer (Closed) Document Format files are very common among political refugees from the trans-Ural region, so I just used what I always do?
2. I got the latest Word upgrade, and it uses a brand new file format that your ancient system can't handle. Get with the times! Just install the free upgrade (it works fine as long as you have XP)!
3. I do not use Word, but rather X, so I'll mail you a PDF file instead: I presume that is OK?.
I have been the perpetrator of number 3 for years. I have absolutely no qualms about what to do to those who insist on number 1 and 2 ("I did not get your paper, not my problem if you persist"). Fortunately I can usually twap the "I'm computer l33t, you are ancient and thus know nothing about this stuff" crowd by the simple expedient of knowing more than they do about computers.
For added fun Urkund were not quick in adding parsers for Microsoft Office Open format so one (a) could not use them for reading the damn thing, or (b) easily check if they stole the whole thing lock stock and barrel.
