frualeydis: (16th century)

Another stash item is finished: a 15th/early 16th century german smock. Made entirely from stash; I bought 14 metres of fine linen last year at Visby medieval week, as some of you may recall.

That's so cute! The little hearts really finish the look.

I hate doing undies since you so rarely see them but maybe I should pick up a German outfit at some point. Although this whole obsession with showing your underwear is a bit funny, especially when you see the guys with this large swathe of smocking where you'd expect cleavage on a woman:P

If my husband was slimmer I would make him exactly one of those late 15th/early 16th century outfits - they're so silly!

The "smock with smock on it" is very pretty!

I must say am so impressed with everything you managed to make during the year, both costumes and "normal".

Wow, that is a wonderful piece of clothing. You do excellent work ma'am.

Steelweaver - I totally agree about undies. They bore me so! That is, making them. Not seeing what other people create. That always impress me vastly, because I am so lazy myself when it comes to undies.

Nice smock! The embroidery really does add a special touch. It's cool that you even dyed your own thread for it, on top of making the whole thing by hand.

Oh yeah, I like the 15th C kirtle too. I missed it due to holiday scrambling but I wanted to say that that looks good on you especially with the sleeve detailing and brown-white contrast.

Thanks.
Now I just need to try them on together.
