Though I haven't heard the rumours everybody's talking about, this is where you'll find me.

But I don't think anything is going to happen.

Eh? What rumours that everyone is talking about? Not that I've seen anyone actually talking about LJ blowing up!

I'm hoping nothing happens - I'd miss all my friends.

(Ths is why I have a paid account. I support things I use/like.)

Not blowing up, but closing down, apparently they're hit by the financial crisis. Or so the rumours say.

Apparently they've laid off quite a bit of staff, and some news site leapt to conclusions (not necessarily the right conclusions, mind you).

you can transfer your entire journal to IJ using a little program called LJ-Sec. google it and you'll see instructions by an LJ user named "brownbetty".

addendum: infrastructure is remaining in the USA, but development is not. So LJ should be fine.
"LiveJournal Inc.'s headquarters, technical operations (and servers,) legal, administration, and customer service teams will remain in the United States. LiveJournal's global product development and design will now be coordinated out of its Moscow office."
