What to do during Earth Hour
Mar. 28th, 2009 08:10 pmI am almost finished with a new skirt, stitching down the waistband on the inside remains, but will be done by hand during Earth Hour. I also plan to cut out and start sewing a collar for a new blouse. Or read aloud from "Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz" for Maja and the family. Since I'm both a medievalist and a wiccan there's plenty of candles and candlesticks.

I did cheat though. I did watch 'Shaun of the Dead' during the lights out and used the TV's illumination.
What else would you watch when all the lights are out?

Date: 2009-03-29 12:17 am (UTC)If you want to contribute your little grain to the heap of CO2 reduction then you should realise that a candle produces about 100 W of power, all taken from fossile fuels (unless you made the bees do all the work). 100 W of (electrical) power will light 25 of these energy saving lamps. If you then consider that something like over 90% of Swedish electricity comes from other sources than fossile fuels, then one single candle has the equivalent CO2 emission of about 250 energy saving lamps.
Just so one gets things in the right perspective.
