A sucky day

Today was the day we were going to meet my long-time Lj friend Billy. We set out in good time, managed to buy migralieve for Valeria's dad at Boots and then jumped on the District line for Notting Hill Gate with 45 minutes left until we were to meet him. It started badly and got worse> first we were stuck for twenty minutes at Wimbledon Park. Then another ten at Southfields and then at East Putney, where we were told that there was abroken signal at Putney Bridge and that we should walk 600 yards to Putney Station and catch the train to Waterloo. Seeing Putney was no great experience and by the time we reached Notting Hill Gate we were one hour late and Billy was, understandably, gone. And of course today of all days I hadn't brought along the folder with phone numbers for him, or for Teddy, who could have given me his number.
So alone we walked along the half way deserted market. Valeria had been down all day and I felt guilty and sad. Walking in these historical quarters just made it worse; contemplating all the things that I missed because I'm too young (and didn't live in the UK).
We got home and had indian food on the way home, but it really feels like a wasted day.

The best part of the day was actually getting home to Teddy and Tom and continue reading a book I've borrowed from Teddy.

And tomorrow we;re going home.

So sad to hear you had a crap day. The TFL can be quite evil some times. Hopefully you feel better soon (do return to visit me, you know :-) ), and that your next meetup with your friend will be successful.

I'm so sorry Eva. I waited until 2:45 but eventually gave up. You must have walked past me on Portobello Road as I was stood outside a coffee shop until about 5 drinking fruit juice and vodka as one of my friends was opening an exhibition of her photography. It was a miserable day wasn't it?

We'll just have to do it another time and make sure we have phone numbers.

Billy O. xx

PS I was wearing black lame socks.

And I missed those socks :(

Next time I might have had to join the 21st century and actually have a cell phone.

We'll arrange it well in advance next time. 2 o'clock at NHG tube, on Saturday so you can see the whole of the market, then tea and a drink at my flat and then the pub. Sounds well organised to me.

Sounds great to me. And I might not even have a child/teenager in tow next time :)
