hehe, well I think I stole it from about, well, everybody. How did you get involved or interested in historical reenactment. I know that you are involved in 2 different groups.

Actually I'm only involved in one group, Nylöse (http://www.strakt.com/~bjorn/nylose/), which is a part of the national group Nordrike (http://www.nordrike.org/) (for those not swedish speaking, the word "Bilder" is what to look for in those pages, it means "pictures"), but I'm becoming more and more tempted to participate in some SCA activities too and I have even have some thoughts about starting up a renaissance group, because it would be fun to have an event where everybody belong to roughly the same time period.
I started in the SCA in autumn 1992. I have always liked to dress up and pretend I lived in more "romantic" eras and finally I found a place to do it (I started doing some Live roleplaying at that time too, but I don't do that anymore.)It was my then boyfriend, the father of Vendela and Valeria, who had been a member of the SCA and put me in contact with people. Actually he's responsible for a lot. When we met I hadn't red fantasy, or indeed any fiction for almost five years and I hadn't longed for playing dress up either, I was very involved in politics and didn't even know I missed it (now I have dress up but miss being an activist).
My first Visby medieval week, which is the most important event of the year, was in 1993. I went with my friend Carin, only bringing very impractical italian renaissance dresses of course. Nobody told me it got so cold in the nights in August.
Well, that was 11 years ago and I'm still hooked (and have far more practical clothes now).

The base is the nine years of english I had in school (from when I was ten) and then I just read a lot and like to talk to people a lot. As mentioned above I was very active in politics, mainly between 1988 and 1994, and I was also active on a european level in an organization called A SEED (http://www.aseed.net/) and it's predecessor EYFA (http://www.eyfa.org/) (then called European Youth Forest Action, now European Youth for action). This gave me a lot of practice in talking to people as I traveled to meetings, I also hitch-hiked through Europe one month in 1993, although that trained my german more than my english.


I think it comes down to that I like to talk (a lot) and I like to read. 80% of the books I read for my work are in english for example.

Oh, oh, here comes the really hard question!!
Right now I'm very, very fond of this dress (http://w1.412.comhem.se/~u41200125/bilder/Visby2004/Visby5.2004.jpg), although it isn't a very good picture of it. I especially like my cloth buttons. Another favourite is to wear my pink cotte with a blue sleeveless surcot, also early 14th century german (I don't have pictures of this). I'm also very fond of this dress (http://w1.311.comhem.se/~u31138198/the%20purple%20dress.html), but I don't think I can pick one. I have many more than I have pictures of too. No, this is too hard!!!

Yes. And before that I was into heavy metal (remember my 80's picture? (http://w1.311.comhem.se/~u31138198/bilder/1986.jpg) and then I listened a lot to late sixties and early seventies music and dressed like a hippie. I guess I settled for an typical leftist alternative style ca 1990 with boots, black leather jacket (not the rockers' style) jeans and palestine-scarf s they're called over here. And I sort gravitate between those two styles still, the hippie style and the angry activist style. Except now when I'm having a period with very conservative style (for me) with "normal" skirts and even a velvet jacket.

My masters degree is in History and that's where I'm going to take my PhD too, hopefully late next year. The subject of my dissertation is clothing in medieval Norway and Sweden (1200-1500).
