frualeydis: (16th century)
[personal profile] frualeydis
Have you ever seen a re-enactor(SCA-dian, whatever) portraying a 16th century german man wearing a hairnet? Not me either, but if you look at this manuscript it is perfectly clear that there ought to be more. This is a carnival book, and painted around 1600 (you can see the progress in clothing style through it, presumably the artist had other images to work from) but there are many other images from the period showing men with hairnets (like the nude portrait of Dürer I linked ot some weeks ago)and besides the interesting decorations the clothes appear to be normal fashionable clothing for young, fit men.

Look at this hottie for example!
